About invision.training
Approved by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals
Invision’s on-line professional development learning community offers professional development opportunities for Teachers of the Visually Impaired, O&M Specialists, and all professionals whose work requires them to know about blindness and visual impairment.
Invision’s on-line training courses are developed by the experienced professionals at Invision Services, Inc. and recognized professionals invited to serve as course instructors. Courses for O&M specialists are ACVREP-approved.
For over two decades, Invision Services has enhanced and enriched the lives of very young children, school-age students, and adults who are blind and visually impaired from Murphy to Morehead City in North Carolina and across the United States.
In 1985 John Higgins, newly graduated from Western Michigan University with a master’s degree in Blind Rehabilitation, was fortunate to became the first O&M Specialist hired by a North Carolina Public School system.
Inspired by two North Carolina educators who both put children’s needs first to create that first O&M Specialist position in the North Carolina Public School System — Gail Waters, the forward-thinking Teacher of the Visually Impaired, and Thelma Watkins, a hard-working public school administrator — John saw the need for more accessible specialized education and rehabilitation services for children and adults with visual impairments throughout the state and founded Invision Services, Inc. in 1992.
Invision Services, Inc. is a private practice created to meet the special educational and rehabilitation needs of students and adults with vision loss and other disabilities.
